Game Cracker
============
Game Cracker is the largest known Game Cracking Archive in
the world. If you are unfamiliar with Game Cracks, a brief
explanation is in order....
There are two main types of "Protection" applied to Games.
The first is a "CD Check". This means once the game is
installed on your Hard Drive, you need to have the CD inserted
in your CD-ROM drive for the game to run. The obvious intention
is to prevent someone from installing a game and then giving
it to a friend to use, etc. From the prespective of the
software developer this is a good idea; from the perspective
of the honest end-user it is very limiting. What if you want
to avoid the wear and tear on the CD? Playing a game over and
over will cause scratches, etc. on the disc surface! What if
you want the convenience of playing it on your laptop without
remembering to lug the CD around? The list could go on and on.
Needless to say, this method of protection is an invconvenience.
The second type of protection is a physical protection. This
can come in a variety of versions. Whichever method is used,
you will be unable to make a backup copy of your original.
This is accomplished by altering critical information on the
CD to fool most CD Copying software into being unable to copy
the disc. For example, the game might report it has a 3 Gig
file when, of course, this is a physical impossibility!
By law, you are allowed to make one backup of any software
that you own--- so long as you destroy the backup if you
give away or sell the game. We all know the benefits of making
backup copies. Unfortunately because of some dishonest people,
some software companies have felt is is necessary to prevent
even the average, honest end-user to make a backup.
Game Cracker to the rescue! This CD contains the tools to
solve many of these problems for many different games. Please
keep in mind, as per the End User License Agreement, the
primary intent of this CD-ROM is to demonstrate reverse-
engineering techniques used by hackers to circumvent software
protection techniques. Before you use any of these files, please
make sure you are not infringing on the copyright protection
of others.
Enjoy this CD and please use it responsibly. And make sure to
look for more files from the underground from Dark Bay, Ltd.
